The company's main offerings facilitate the exchange of health data across different systems and applications for clients including care providers, health tech developers, and public health organizations.

The company's platform supports various healthcare message formats and standards, such as HL7, FHIR, and DICOM. Its product suite includes the Rhapsody Integration Engine, Corepoint Integration Engine, an Enterprise Master Person Index (EMPI) which now features AI-powered automation, and the Envoy iPaaS for automated integrations. These solutions are designed to be flexible and can be deployed in a client's cloud, Rhapsody's cloud, or as an Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS). Rhapsody's business model is based on providing this software and its related services to its 1,700 customers in over 60 countries.

The company has a complex history involving several mergers and rebrandings. The Rhapsody Integration Engine was first released in 2000 by Orion Health. In 2018, Orion Health sold the Rhapsody business unit to private equity firm Hg. Rhapsody then merged with Corepoint Health in July 2019. In February 2020, the combined entity was rebranded as Lyniate. Over the next few years, the company acquired Datica Integrate (2021) and merged with NextGate (2022) and CareCom (2022). In April 2023, the company rebranded back to Rhapsody, citing the name's global recognition.

Sagnik Bhattacharya was appointed CEO in September 2023. His background includes a 16-year tenure at Epic, where he led the outpatient EHR and value-based care teams, giving him extensive experience in clinical workflows and interoperability challenges. He succeeded Erkan Akyuz, who had led the company through its major mergers and transformation into a global interoperability leader.
