Revalue Nature

Revalue Nature is a London-based climate tech company founded in 2022 by Stuart Rowland that develops high-integrity carbon credits from nature-based projects. Rowland, who serves as CEO, was inspired to start the company while directing a nature incubator in Indonesia, where he recognized that early carbon credits were of an insufficient standard. His goal was to create a higher quality of credits that avoid, remove, and durably store carbon while valuing nature.

The company provides end-to-end solutions for nature-based carbon project developers, assisting with everything from initial assessment and financing to the certification and marketing of credits. Revalue partners with project operators on the ground, such as NGOs and community groups, as well as strategic capital investors who fund the projects. Its business model focuses on using its technology and expertise to help these partners create trustworthy carbon projects. The company has projects in over eight countries across three continents.

Revalue offers three primary models: Model R for avoidance credits, Model V for reforestation-based removal credits, and Model N for nature-tech removals with long-term permanence. To ensure the quality and integrity of its credits, the firm utilizes advanced technologies that go beyond current certification standards. This includes using LiDAR for accurate biomass estimations, AI and machine learning for advanced monitoring, and environmental DNA (eDNA) for biodiversity tracking. The company's proprietary platform, TERRA, provides spatial intelligence and analytics to help assess and monitor projects. This technological approach allows Revalue to create what it terms "radically better carbon credits" where each credit corresponds to at least one ton of real-world emissions impact.

In August 2023, Revalue Nature raised $10 million in a Series A funding round co-led by US-based venture capital firms Ecosystem Integrity Fund (EIF) and SJF Ventures. This followed a seed round led by SYSTEMIQ, Rowland's former employer. The company plans to use the capital to grow its partnerships, expand its project pipeline, and further develop its technology platform.
