Remedy Plan
Developing Cancer Containment Therapy, a non-toxic approach to disrupting cancer spread
About Remedy Plan
Remedy Plan Therapeutics is a privately-held, clinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on developing a novel class of small molecule therapeutics. Founded in 2011 by Gregory Crimmins and Ron Parchem, the Gaithersburg, Maryland-based firm is pioneering a solution to a long-standing challenge in drug development. Dr. Crimmins, who serves as CEO, holds a PhD in molecular biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and has two decades of biomedical research experience. His background in immunotherapy and phenotypic screening guided the company from its inception and the creation of its proprietary drug screening platform.
The company's core technology revolves around the inhibition of nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT), a critical enzyme that regulates how cells use energy. Dysregulation of NAMPT has been linked to over 20 diseases, including cancer, autoimmune disorders, and metabolic conditions, making it a high-value therapeutic target. For over 25 years, previous attempts by pharmaceutical companies to target NAMPT were hindered by severe on-target toxicities in healthy tissues. Remedy Plan's distinct approach utilizes what it terms "hyperbolic inhibition," a mechanism that modulates NAMPT activity without completely shutting it off. This technique is designed to selectively kill malignant cells while preserving the metabolic function of healthy cells, thereby avoiding the toxicity issues that plagued earlier NAMPT inhibitors.
Remedy Plan's lead asset, RPT1G, is a first-in-class hyperbolic NAMPT inhibitor. Preclinical studies demonstrated that RPT1G is effective in acute leukemia, lymphoma, and solid tumor models and is significantly better tolerated than previous inhibitors. In December 2024, the company initiated a Phase 1 clinical trial in healthy adult volunteers in Australia to evaluate the drug's safety and pharmacokinetic properties. Following the conclusion of this study in May 2025, the company plans to advance RPT1G into a Phase 1/2 trial in the second half of 2025 for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and high-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Research has also shown that RPT1G may synergize with existing standard-of-care drugs like venetoclax, potentially overcoming treatment resistance. To accelerate these clinical programs and further develop its pipeline for other diseases, Remedy Plan raised over $18 million in May 2025, bringing its total funding to $55 million with backing from investors like Schooner Capital and Alexandria Venture Investments.
