About Relegence

Relegence was an Israeli-based company specializing in semantic analysis, automated content tagging, and classification. The company was originally founded as Enow, Inc. in 1999, which offered a service called ChatScan, before changing its name to Relegence Corporation in 2002.

The firm's core business involved providing real-time intelligence to users, particularly in the financial services sector. Its technology platform was designed to monitor, index, and filter over 20,000 global sources of live content, including newswires, print media, television networks, and regulatory feeds. This allowed the system to deliver customized and relevant information directly to a user's desktop based on their individual search criteria. One of its known products, FirstTrack, provided tailored information for financial professionals on topics such as upcoming IPOs and securities updates. The business model was primarily subscription-based, selling services that offered real-time discovery, notification, and delivery of information.

On November 8, 2006, Relegence was acquired by AOL and became a wholly-owned subsidiary. At the time of the acquisition, the company had 60 employees with its headquarters in New York and additional offices in London and Tel Aviv. The deal was part of AOL's broader strategy to enhance its content management and publishing platforms by integrating Relegence's real-time technology. Following the acquisition, Relegence was to continue its normal operations and serve its existing financial services client base.
