The Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute (RBNI), established in January 2005 at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, is a prominent academic research center in the field of nanotechnology. It was founded through a joint initiative of the Russell Berrie Foundation, the Israeli government, and the Technion.

The institute focuses on advancing nanoscale science and technology, aiming to position both the Technion and Israel at the forefront of global nanotechnology research and development. RBNI's research activities are multidisciplinary, involving over 150 faculty members and 300 graduate students from 14 different faculties, including engineering disciplines, life sciences, and exact sciences. Key research areas encompass nanoelectronics, nanophotonics, nanomaterials, nanomechanics, and nanomedicine.

To support its research, RBNI is equipped with advanced infrastructure, such as the Sara and Moshe Zisapel Nanoelectronics Center, which includes state-of-the-art cleanrooms. The institute also features specialized equipment like the Helios NanoLab G3 DualBeam system, which combines ion and electron beams for high-resolution imaging, milling, and sample preparation. Beyond its research endeavors, RBNI is committed to education and industry collaboration. It runs educational programs, including winter schools that attract international participants, and actively engages with industry to foster technological innovation.
