Racktivity
Delivers high end monitoring and management solutions for AC & DC power and environmental metrics in data centers.
About Racktivity
Racktivity, founded in 2009 by Wilbert Ingels, established itself as a provider of solutions for power and environmental management within data centers. The company operated in the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) market, which involves tools to monitor, measure, and control data center resources and energy consumption for IT and facilities components. Racktivity's business model revolved around providing an integrated suite of in-house developed hardware and software to give clients end-to-end visibility and control over their infrastructure.

The company's core offering was the Data Center Performance Management (DCPM) software suite. This platform provided a web-based user interface that acted as a single pane of glass, allowing clients to get a global view of their operations and drill down to individual power outlets or sensors. The software was designed to analyze and manage power and operational behaviors in real-time, integrating with both Racktivity's own hardware and third-party components. Revenue was likely generated from the sale of its hardware appliances and licensing of its DCPM software.
Racktivity developed a range of hardware products to complement its software. The EnergySwitch smart Power Distribution Units (PDUs) were built on a proprietary real-time operating system (EnergyOS™) to deliver granular, real-time monitoring of metrics like current, voltage, power, and energy consumption with high accuracy. To provide a complete overview of power consumption, the company also offered the DC²Meter and AC²Meter, which could be installed at power distribution boards or remote locations. For environmental monitoring, the E²Sensor family was created to track parameters such as temperature, humidity, water leakage, movement, and smoke detection. These sensors were designed to connect to other Racktivity products like the smart PDUs and meters. The company was eventually acquired in March 2017.
