About Quantile Technologies

Quantile Technologies operates as a specialized provider of portfolio, margin, and capital optimization services for the over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives market. Founded in 2015 by Andrew Williams and Stephen O'Connor, the firm was established to enhance market efficiency and stability. Williams, who serves as CEO, brought extensive experience from his time managing the CVA/XVA trading desk at a major bank and serving on risk committees for clearing houses like LCH and CME. O'Connor, the company's chairman, previously spent two decades at Morgan Stanley in senior roles, including global head of counterparty portfolio management, and also chaired the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA).

The company's core business revolves around advanced trade compression and risk rebalancing services delivered through a powerful optimization engine. These services cater to a client base that includes top-tier global banks, regional banks, hedge funds, and other large institutional market participants. Quantile’s model is designed to reduce counterparty risk, gross notional, and capital requirements for its clients, thereby improving their returns and bolstering the safety of the financial system. Its services are delivered via a cloud-based infrastructure, which has been a key enabler for scaling its operations. The company launched its first services in 2017 and has since eliminated trillions of dollars in gross notional value and billions in initial margin.

A significant milestone occurred in December 2021, when the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) announced its agreement to acquire Quantile for up to £274 million, a deal that was finalized in late 2022. The acquisition was a strategic move for LSEG to enhance its post-trade risk management solutions, complementing its existing OTC derivatives clearing services. Following the acquisition, Quantile continues to operate as a standalone entity within LSEG's Post Trade division, maintaining an open-access model that allows clients the choice of where to clear, compress, and optimize their trading activities.
