Qicycle, initially established in Xiamen, China in 2011, began its journey when a group of cycling enthusiasts with backgrounds in software and electronic engineering decided to merge their passions. The company's first major product was not a bicycle, but the QiCYCLE mobile app, launched in 2012. This app quickly grew into a large cycling community, boasting over 1.24 million users by 2013. A significant turning point came in 2014 when the company received angel round investment from Xiaomi and pivoted to bicycle design and manufacturing. This collaboration led to the development of the QiCYCLE R1, a carbon fiber road bike, in 2015, and the popular Mi Smart Electric Folding Bike in 2016. The firm now operates globally, specializing in electric-assisted bicycles and portable electric tire inflators.
