About Qarbon Technologies

Qarbon Technologies Pte. Ltd. was a Singapore-headquartered enterprise technology company established in 2022 by CEO Robert Davidson and Executive Chairman Mark Smith, both veterans of the data center, telecom, and technology sectors. Smith, for instance, previously headed Digital Realty's Asia-Pacific operations and has over thirty years of experience in the field. The company launched publicly in May 2023, coinciding with the announcement of a US$5.5 million seed funding round led by Meta Technology Capital.

The firm's business was centered on a SaaS-based orchestration platform designed to address persistent manual processes within the global data center industry. It aimed to create a neutral, open-standards platform that would securely integrate the disparate infrastructure systems of a data center—such as power, cooling, security, and connectivity—with a customer's existing business applications, including Salesforce and ServiceNow. This model intended to provide clients, such as telecom providers and other data center customers, with a unified interface to automate and manage their data center operations in real time, reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Qarbon's flagship product, LATTICE™, was developed to serve as this single interface. Its initial focus was on automating the cross-connect ordering process, a task identified as a significant manual bottleneck for network providers and data center operators. Beyond order orchestration, the platform's roadmap included features for inventory tracking, enhanced security, audit trails, and the automated reporting of ESG metrics like power consumption, water usage, and CO2 emissions. Despite achieving a live platform with active customers and partnerships with six major data center operators in less than 18 months, Qarbon Technologies announced it would cease operations at the end of October 2024.
