About Pulse Electronics
In 1947, a company called Technitrol was founded in Philadelphia, the entity that would eventually become known as Pulse Electronics. Over the decades, it grew into a key global supplier of electronic components, manufacturing the essential, often unseen, parts inside everything from cars to communication networks. The company designed and produced a vast range of products, including magnetics, antennas, and connectors. The company had a long history, eventually listing on the New York Stock Exchange. A pivotal moment arrived in April 2015, when investment firm Oaktree Capital Management acquired Pulse and took the company private. This move set the stage for the next major chapter in its story. That chapter began in May 2018, when Taiwanese passive component giant Yageo Corporation announced it would acquire Pulse Electronics for $740 million. The deal, which was finalized in December 2018, was a strategic play for Yageo to significantly expand its product portfolio and increase its market presence in the United States and Europe. By acquiring Pulse, Yageo gained a strong foothold in the automotive and industrial markets, absorbing a company with a 70-year history of innovation to create a more powerful, one-stop-shop for electronic components.
