Pro-unity, a human resources technology firm founded in Brussels in 2015 by David Muyldermans and Cristian Ciuperca, operates as a key player in the external talent market. David Muyldermans, the CEO, brought approximately 20 years of management and sales experience from the FMCG and IT service industries to the venture. His entrepreneurial drive and frustration with the lack of transparency in contingent workforce management inspired the creation of Pro-unity, aiming to digitize and streamline the complex process of hiring external talent.

The company's core business revolves around a cloud-based platform that functions as a Vendor Management System (VMS) and marketplace, connecting businesses with freelancers and service providers. This integrated system is designed to manage the entire external talent lifecycle, from candidate selection and contract signing to service statements and invoicing. Pro-unity serves a diverse client base of over 80 organizations, including both large private companies and public sector entities in Belgium. The platform facilitates direct negotiation between clients and freelancers, aiming for a transparent and efficient hiring process.

Pro-unity's platform is managed in-house, which allows for rapid customizations and weekly updates based on user feedback. It offers direct sourcing for freelancers, comprehensive freelancer profiles, automated communication, and integrated scheduling tools to streamline project coordination. The business model targets talent seekers (businesses), freelancers with a VAT number, and talent providers, but does not permit bodyshoppers on the platform.

A significant milestone in the company's history was its acquisition by the Dutch company HeadFirst Group on July 14, 2022. This strategic move was intended to bolster the international ambitions of both companies and enhance Pro-unity's reach and impact. Following the acquisition, Pro-unity retained its name and management team, operating as a subsidiary while tripling HeadFirst Group's business in Belgium. Prior to the acquisition, Pro-unity had secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding from investors including Seeder Fund and finance&invest.brussels.
