About Power Reviews

Founded in 2005 by Matt Moog, PowerReviews operates as a software and data company specializing in user-generated content (UGC) for the e-commerce sector. The firm provides a cloud-based platform for brands and retailers to collect, display, and analyze customer reviews, questions and answers, and other forms of social content. This service aims to increase sales conversion by building consumer trust and providing product insights. The company's revenue model is primarily based on providing its software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform to over 1,000 global brands and retailers.

PowerReviews' history is marked by significant corporate restructuring. In 2012, its primary competitor, Bazaarvoice, acquired the company for approximately $150 million. However, this merger was challenged by the United States Department of Justice on antitrust grounds, leading to a court-ordered divestiture. In 2014, consumer reviews company Viewpoints acquired PowerReviews from Bazaarvoice, combining the two entities under the PowerReviews brand with Matt Moog continuing as CEO. The company continued to expand, acquiring BzzAgent in 2018 and Stella Pulse in 2019. In August 2023, product content management company 1WorldSync acquired PowerReviews.

The company's core product is its UGC platform, which includes several key features. The Ratings & Reviews solution enables the collection and display of customer feedback, which is a critical component for online shoppers. The platform also offers Product Sampling services to generate a higher volume and quality of initial reviews for new or existing products. Another feature, Social Curation, allows brands to source and display authentic imagery and videos from social media on their websites. PowerReviews provides analytics tools for clients to benchmark product performance and gain insights from customer feedback to improve products and the overall customer experience. The company also operates an extensive syndication network, allowing reviews collected for a brand to be displayed across various retail websites that sell the product.
