About Coral

Coral, formerly Phoebe, is a London-based software company building the open-source data retrieval layer for AI agents. The Coral data engine gives agents one SQL interface across APIs, databases, files and internal systems, so a single query can join data from sources such as GitHub, Slack, Datadog, Linear and Stripe. It exposes the same runtime over MCP, handles authentication, pagination, rate limits and schema mapping, and learns caching and join hints from every query; the company reports that agents retrieving data through it are more accurate and materially cheaper than with direct integrations. Coral is open source under Apache 2.0, with hosted Team and Enterprise plans billed per month plus usage-based query pricing. Founded in 2024 by former Stripe Europe CEO Matt Henderson and CIO James Summerfield, the company launched publicly as Phoebe in August 2025 with a €15.6 million ($17 million) seed round co-led by GV (Google Ventures) and Cherry Ventures.
