Phil Rivers Technology, legally known as Beijing Zheyuan Technology Co., Ltd., was established on December 9, 2015, as an offshoot of the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The firm operates at the intersection of high-performance computing and biotechnology, pioneering a field it terms "computational medicine." This approach utilizes artificial intelligence, extensive biological data, and supercomputing capabilities to create a 'digital experiment ground for drugs.'

The company was founded by Zhang Chunming, a deputy researcher at the CAS Institute of Computing Technology. Instead of solely focusing on molecular chemistry, the company builds digital twin models of diseases to understand their underlying mechanisms. Its core offerings are two AI platforms: one for delivering novel drug targets and mechanisms of action (MOAs), and a virtual clinical trial platform. These tools are designed to identify new drug targets, discover new applications for existing drugs, design more efficient clinical trials, and predict patient responses with greater accuracy.

The business model centers on creating and licensing high-value intellectual property (IP), including new drug targets, molecules, and expanded indications for existing therapies. Revenue is generated through these "license out" agreements and service contracts with pharmaceutical partners, where fees are collected based on reaching specific research and development milestones.
