About Personic
Personic Software Inc. was a key player in the human capital management sector during the dot-com era, having been established in 1994.
The company was headquartered in Brisbane, California, and developed sophisticated software solutions aimed at the recruitment market. Its business model centered on providing these tools to both corporate hiring departments and professional staffing firms, which streamlined and automated the entire process of talent acquisition. By the year 2000, its client base had grown to over 600 organizations worldwide.
Personic offered two primary product ranges: 'EZ Access', tailored for the staffing industry, and 'Personic WorkFlow', designed for corporate hiring needs. These platforms managed the hiring pipeline from initial advertisement and resume scanning through to skills matching and the administrative tasks of offers and placements. A significant feature was the software's ability to integrate with major enterprise human resources back-end systems, including those from PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and SAP.
The firm demonstrated an aggressive growth trajectory, with reported revenues climbing from $1 million in 1996 to an anticipated $30 million by 1999. This expansion was fueled by significant venture capital investment. Personic successfully raised at least $28 million through multiple funding rounds, including an $18 million mezzanine round in March 2000, followed by a $10 million venture round in December 2000. Its investors included notable firms like AIG Horizon Partners, Battery Ventures, and Sand Hill Capital. Following its market run, Personic Software Inc. was acquired by Xperius in a deal that closed on June 1, 2002.
