About Peripheral

Peripheral (Peripheral Labs) is a Toronto-based AI research lab bringing spatial intelligence to live sports media. Founded in 2024 by CEO Kelvin Cui and Mustafa Khan, it applies the kind of perception technology used by self-driving cars to reconstruct live sports: AI-based reconstruction and a neural rendering system turn standard multi-camera broadcast feeds into fully navigable, game-like 3D environments, enabling volumetric replays, high-fidelity player tracking and new interactive viewing experiences at a fraction of the cost of legacy volumetric systems. Peripheral works with sports leagues and broadcasters across North America and is being tested by the NBA through its LaunchPad program. On 17 August 2026 the company announced $8.7 million in new seed funding co-led by Inovia Capital and Deloitte Ventures, with follow-on participation from existing backers Khosla Ventures and Entrepreneurs First, bringing total funding to $12.5 million. The capital will expand its engineering team, accelerate deployments with leagues and stadiums and support a browser-based consumer replay product that lets fans explore big plays in 3D.
