In 1987, a family-run business named Performance Team began operations in California with a clear focus on warehousing and distribution. The company built its foundation by specializing in B2B and B2C e-commerce, retail, and wholesale distribution. They established a network of warehouses in strategic locations, often near ports, to efficiently manage supply chains for their clients. For years, Performance Team demonstrated consistent growth, expanding its footprint across North America. The company developed a reputation for operational excellence in omnichannel fulfillment and transportation services. This steady performance caught the eye of a major industry player looking to expand its land-based logistics capabilities. A significant turning point came in April 2020, when the global logistics giant A.P. Moller - Maersk acquired Performance Team for $545 million. This acquisition was a strategic move for Maersk to strengthen its end-to-end supply chain solutions and significantly increase its warehousing presence in North America. The deal more than doubled Maersk's warehouse locations in the region, from 22 to 46. Following the acquisition, the company was rebranded as "Performance Team – A Maersk Company," with CEO Craig Kaplan continuing in his leadership role to ensure a smooth transition.
