In 1987, Pegasus started not as a tech company, but as a labour-hire firm rooted in the demanding mining industry of Australia's Hunter Valley. The company's focus was on providing skilled workers for industrial sites. For years, this formed the core of its business, deeply embedding them in the world of workforce safety and risk management. A pivotal moment came in 2007 when Adam Boyle was appointed CEO with a clear mandate: diversify the business. This directive sparked a transformation from a traditional service provider to a technology-focused enterprise. The company began commercializing its internal software, a tool designed to manage worker competency, training, and site safety. This strategic shift laid the groundwork for what would become a powerful, purely software-based platform for workforce management. The transition gained significant momentum in January 2020, when Pegasus secured a major growth investment from the Silicon Valley tech investment firm Accel-KKR. This funding was earmarked for global expansion and further product development. The true culmination of their journey arrived in 2021 when Pegasus was acquired by the US-based supply chain risk management software provider, Avetta. The acquisition created one of the largest global providers of supply chain risk and worker management solutions, with Boyle continuing to lead the Australian and New Zealand operations.
