About PayCommerce

PayCommerce carved a niche for itself in the financial technology sector by establishing a global payments network focused on business-to-business (B2B) cross-border transactions. Founded in 2006 by Abdul Naushad, the company aimed to reduce the complexity and costs associated with international payments for its clients. Mr. Naushad, who served as Chairman and Founder, brought extensive experience from the enterprise software and FinTech space, including roles at Oracle Corporation and as a co-founder of other technology ventures, to steer the company's direction.

The company's core offering was a technology platform that connected banks, financial institutions, and corporations through a single point of connectivity, streamlining the entire payment process from initiation to settlement. PayCommerce operated a correspondent-banking consortium model, which by 2017 had grown to include over 100 institutions across more than 80 countries. This network was designed to offer significant cost reduction, increased efficiency, and greater transparency compared to traditional payment methods. The business model focused on facilitating the flow of payment information without taking direct custody of the funds, instead coordinating the transfer between nostro accounts of participating banks. Clients included seven of the top global banks and numerous Fortune 500 companies.

A key milestone in the company's journey was the closing of a $22 million Series B funding round in October 2016, led by Tritium Partners. This capital injection was aimed at increasing global market share and further developing its platform. PayCommerce also made technological strides by incorporating blockchain principles into its proprietary Federated Ledger™, a hybrid system combining centralized and distributed ledgers to enable faster, more secure, and transparent clearing and settlement. In January 2017, the company announced it had successfully completed its first real-time, cross-border B2B payment into India using this blockchain-based technology. In September 2018, INTL FCStone Inc. acquired the fully accredited SWIFT Service Bureau from PayCommerce to enhance its own global payments division. Recent data indicates the company is now considered deadpooled.
