Panda TV was a Chinese live-streaming platform that primarily focused on broadcasting e-sports events and other content related to gaming. The company was founded in 2015 by Wang Sicong, the son of Chinese tycoon Wang Jianlin. Wang Sicong, an entrepreneur and investor in his own right, leveraged his influence and capital to quickly establish the platform in the highly competitive Chinese streaming market. He had already founded the professional esports organization Invictus Gaming in 2011, which provided a foundation and understanding of the burgeoning esports scene.

The platform allowed users to stream and watch video content related to e-sports games, as well as other genres like beauty and entertainment. Panda TV's business model was centered on attracting a large user base of online game fans and monetizing through various online and offline methods. The company's strategy involved signing high-profile streamers and professional gamers, including from Korea, to attract viewers, a move that significantly drove up salary costs in the industry. The platform quickly gained traction, securing a Series A funding round of $54 million in 2016 and a Series B round of CNY 1 billion ($145 million) in May 2017, which elevated its valuation to CNY 5 billion.

Despite its initial success and ranking as China's third-largest game streaming network by the end of 2018, Panda TV faced severe operational and financial challenges. The live-streaming market in China was cash-intensive, with enormous expenses for bandwidth and streamer salaries. Panda TV struggled with a liquidity squeeze and was unable to secure new funding for 22 months leading up to its closure. This was compounded by intense competition from rivals like Douyu and Huya, which were backed by industry giant Tencent. The company's plan for a public offering in 2018 failed to materialize, further worsening its financial situation. Consequently, Panda TV officially ceased operations and filed for bankruptcy in March 2019, shutting down its servers and leaving a significant amount of debt.
