Ore Pharmaceuticals, formerly known as Gene Logic Inc., operated as a biopharmaceutical development company with a distinct focus on drug repositioning. The company was originally founded as Gene Logic in 1994 by Michael Brennan and Anu Acharya. This process allowed Ore to discover new uses for stalled drug candidates. For instance, the company acquired development rights for romazarit from Roche, a compound initially tested for rheumatoid arthritis, after identifying its potential in treating metabolic diseases. Following the sale of its genomics division, Ore Pharmaceuticals retained perpetual rights to use the existing Gene Logic databases as a component of its drug repositioning business. The company's stock, previously under the ticker GLGC, began trading under ORXE on the NASDAQ exchange. Public records indicate that Gene Logic later went bankrupt.
