About OptAim
OptAim, a subsidiary of iClick Interactive Asia Group Limited (now Amber International Holding Limited), operates as a mobile advertising platform in China with a focus on performance-based advertising and programmatic marketing. Founded in 2012 by Dr. Jan Tang, a former Director of Advertising Platforms and Products at Tencent, the company leverages its founder's deep experience in developing advertising exchange platforms. Dr. Tang was a core member in building the Tencent AdExchange, which supports real-time bidding.
The company's primary offering is a mobile demand-side platform (DSP) that integrates programmatic technology with major ad exchanges and supply-side platforms in China. This platform provides clients, which include app developers, e-commerce businesses, and brand marketers, with solutions for mobile user behavior analysis and tracking to enhance the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns. OptAim's business model is centered on providing data-driven, automated, and cross-channel marketing solutions that help marketers connect with audiences in China. The platform boasts access to a vast number of mobile users through its connections with premium web publishers like Tencent, Taobao, and Sohu.
In January 2015, OptAim secured approximately US$10 million in a Series A funding round from Bertelsmann Asia Investments. A significant milestone occurred in August 2015 when iClick Interactive acquired a 100% stake in OptAim, a move designed to bolster iClick's cross-platform marketing capabilities within the Chinese market. This acquisition integrated OptAim's mobile advertising technology with iClick's broader digital marketing portfolio. Following the acquisition, OptAim continued to operate as a subsidiary, winning multiple awards from Tencent Ads in 2019 for its service and innovation. The parent company, iClick, was founded in 2009 and went public on the NASDAQ in 2017 before being taken private in early 2024 and rebranding to Amber International Holding Limited in early 2025.
