About OpenPeak

OpenPeak, Inc. was a mobile technology company established in 2002 by founder Dan Gittleman. Initially based in Boca Raton, Florida, the firm focused on developing a software platform centered on mobile cybersecurity and device management. It catered primarily to government, enterprise, and education sectors, providing security for data on personal and company-owned mobile devices.

The company's business model involved providing its mobile enterprise management (MEM) ecosystem as a white-label solution through large brand mobility partners and carriers worldwide. This strategy allowed partners to integrate OpenPeak's technology into their own branded products. The core of its offering was the ADAM (Advanced Device and Application Management) mobility management suite, a SaaS platform that enabled businesses to remotely provision, secure, and manage mobile devices and applications. The ADAM suite comprised components like SANCTION, SECTOR, and OPENSHOP, which could be deployed individually or as a complete end-to-end solution. Key features included app wrapping, data encryption, remote locking and wiping of devices, and the ability for administrators to push updates and configuration profiles.

Throughout its history, OpenPeak secured significant funding from notable investors. In 2010, the company raised $52 million in a round that included Intel Capital, which was interested in the platform's ability to harness the capabilities of the Intel Atom processor for new mobile and digital home products. By 2013, OpenPeak had raised a total of $214 million over seven rounds, with a substantial Series E investment from AT&T. This partnership aimed to accelerate the development of MEM solutions, such as AT&T Toggle. At one point, OpenPeak also ventured into hardware, announcing the OpenTablet 7 in 2010, a tablet based on an Intel Atom processor platform that would be offered with AT&T's 3G service. The company is now listed as out of business, having filed for bankruptcy liquidation in September 2016.
