Omnillion is a Toronto-based company that provides a cloud and global data network specifically for application developers. Founded in 2021 by Rachel D. Zhang (CEO) and Chris Zheng (CTO), the company aims to compete in the edge cloud space against major providers like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.

The core of Omnillion's offering is a globally distributed NoSQL database and a low-latency stream data processing engine. This infrastructure is designed to empower developers to build and scale data-intensive, real-time cloud applications. A key feature is the ability to deploy these applications across more than 100 points-of-presence (PoPs) worldwide, significantly reducing latency. The company reports an average roundtrip time of 80 milliseconds from a user's device to its edge cloud and back, a speed it claims is 25 to 100 times faster than many conventional cloud platforms. The business model targets enterprise clients whose need for scalable, low-latency digital platforms has increased, particularly with the rise of remote work. By enabling developers to bypass the constraints of centralized cloud models, Omnillion allows for the execution of data-heavy workloads closer to the end-users.

In August 2021, Omnillion announced it had raised $25 million in a Series A funding round. The capital was earmarked for feature development, integration with content delivery networks and other cloud providers, and expanding its engineering teams. The company also planned to establish new data centers in several global locations, including Ukraine, Taiwan, Ireland, Mexico, and Argentina, to support its global expansion.
