About Oh BiBi

Based in Paris, France, Oh BiBi is an independent mobile game development studio established in 2012 by Stanislas Dewavrin and Martial Valery, with Anne Joelle Casenaz Dewavrin also credited as a founder. The founders, both veterans from Gameloft, brought with them a wealth of experience, having worked on highly successful titles like "Minion Rush" and the "Asphalt" series. Dewavrin, who serves as CEO, was previously the VP of Creation at Gameloft for 11 years, overseeing the production of around 300 games. Valery, the COO, also held key roles at Gameloft, and the duo left the gaming giant as it shifted from premium to free-to-play, a transition they felt the larger company was not well-positioned to lead.

Oh BiBi's journey began with an initial funding round of about €3 million ($4.1M) in 2014 from investors including Time for Growth and Gumi. However, their first titles, like "Monster and Commander," were not commercially successful, generating minimal revenue and leading to a period of struggle. Learning from this initial failure, the team regrouped. With a small, five-person team, they developed the multiplayer racing game "SUP Multiplayer Racing," which launched in June 2017. The game became a breakout hit, achieving 30,000 to 70,000 daily downloads with a minimal marketing budget and eventually reaching 30 million downloads, restoring the studio's confidence.

The studio's core business is developing free-to-play mobile games for iOS and Android, monetizing through in-app purchases and advertisements. They focus on bringing the depth and quality of PC and console gaming experiences to the mobile platform, particularly in genres like multiplayer racing and hero shooters. A significant milestone was the Series B funding round in June 2018, where they raised $21 million, led by Atomico with participation from Korelya Capital. This capital infusion was aimed at scaling the team and launching their next major title, "FRAG Pro Shooter."

"FRAG Pro Shooter," launched in 2018, exemplifies the company's strategy. It is a hero shooter game that combines first-person and third-person perspectives, featuring real-time 1v1 and 2v2 multiplayer battles. Players can assemble a team from over 100 unique characters, each with special abilities, and can instantly respawn as another character upon defeat. A key feature integrated into FRAG is a social platform that allows for in-game communication and video sharing, fostering a strong user community. The game has been a massive success, with downloads exceeding 100 million across all their titles by late 2020.
