Odysii
Provides retailers, banks and other consumer-oriented companies with marketing management technology and proactive sales
About Odysii
Odysii Technologies Ltd. operated as a marketing intelligence and onsite digital advertising platform, founded in 2003 by CEO Adi Eyal and VP of Technology Yair Goldfinger, who was also a co-founder of the instant messaging service ICQ. The company, initially named TVeez, was established in Herzliya, Israel, with a focus on enabling retailers to enhance communication with on-site customers through targeted, real-time dynamic messaging.
The firm's core offering was a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that analyzed real-time data from a retailer's business systems, such as point-of-sale (POS), loyalty programs, and mobile applications. By capturing the client's business strategy, the system would automatically trigger and deliver personalized promotions and content to various output devices within the store. This technology was designed to influence customer purchasing decisions at the point of purchase, aiming to increase the size of the shopping basket. The platform considered multiple data points, including weather and offer acceptance rates, to optimize the relevance of its messaging. Odysii served a diverse client base across more than 25 countries, including retail banks, hotels, restaurants, and other consumer-facing businesses like 7-Eleven, HSBC, and Blockbuster.
In April 2008, Odysii secured $20 million in a Series A funding round led by Benchmark Capital and Giza Venture Capital. A significant milestone occurred in 2012 when Odysii entered a strategic partnership with Gilbarco Veeder-Root, a global leader in fueling and payment systems. This collaboration led to the launch of the "Impulse" upselling platform. Subsequently, on October 9, 2015, Gilbarco Veeder-Root acquired Odysii for an estimated $30-40 million. Following the acquisition, the Odysii team was integrated into Gilbarco's organization to form a new division, continuing operations from their Tel Aviv facility to further develop targeted merchandising and loyalty features.
