About Nuweba

Nuweba Labs Ltd. was a Tel Aviv-based technology firm founded in 2018 by CEO Ido Neeman and CTO Yan Cybulski. The founders leveraged their extensive experience from serving in the elite technology unit of the Israel Defence Forces, where they led cybersecurity operations, to address what they identified as critical gaps in the serverless computing market. Their military background in cybersecurity directly influenced the company's core mission to build a more robust and secure serverless architecture.

The company operated in the serverless computing and cloud security market, providing a Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) platform for developers. Nuweba’s business model was centered on offering a platform that enabled companies to run serverless applications more efficiently and securely. The platform was engineered to solve three main challenges plaguing mainstream serverless adoption: slow performance (high latency), inadequate application-level security, and a lack of real-time visibility into application behavior. It was designed to be compatible with major cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS) Lambda, allowing developers to migrate their functions with a single click without code changes.

Nuweba's product was a serverless platform re-architected from the kernel level up. A key feature was its reduced invocation latency, claiming to be ten times faster than existing solutions, with cold start times between 8 and 40 milliseconds. Unlike other platforms, Nuweba provided a fresh container for every function invocation, enhancing security by preventing attacker persistence. The platform integrated six layers of security, including malicious code execution prevention and network traffic inspection, and offered automatic, real-time monitoring without requiring manual configuration of security policies or metrics. In a significant milestone, Nuweba announced support for Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) in November 2019, enabling the use of serverless architecture for AI and machine learning workloads for the first time. The company secured a total of $15 million in seed funding over two rounds, with investors including Magma Partners, Target Global, and Blumberg Capital. According to public records, the company is now out of business.
