The company aimed to create platforms for virtual social networks, allowing users to craft unique identities through 3D avatars and user-generated items. Its flagship product was an online dance game called MStar, built on the Unreal Engine 3, which allowed players to compete in rhythm-based challenges. The game's appeal was its use of realistic choreography that mirrored real-life music videos.

The company's business model centered on providing a free-to-play social gaming experience where users could interact, customize avatars, decorate 3D rooms, and participate in various games like dancing and virtual fashion shows. This strategy was designed to attract a broad audience, including both men and women, moving beyond the traditional hardcore gamer demographic. Nurien Software secured significant venture capital, raising $15 million in its first round in April 2008, followed by an additional $10 million in January 2009. Despite its early promise and substantial funding totaling over $35 million, the company was ultimately acquired by CJ E&M on August 1, 2010, with a further stake acquired by CJ Games Corporation in January 2014.
