Numeral is a San Francisco AI-powered sales tax compliance company that covers the full lifecycle of multi-jurisdiction tax work for businesses and accounting firms—from nexus monitoring and registrations to rate calculation, filing, remittance, exemption certificate management and virtual mailbox services, plus VAT and GST compliance in more than 90 countries. Founded in 2023 by CEO Sam Ross and CTO Matt DuVall, Numeral connects with over 40 billing, financial and ERP systems and pairs a deterministic tax engine with AI automation and in-house specialists so customers can cut filing and registration time and reduce spreadsheet errors; the company also runs an accounting partner program for referrals, resale and implementation. Momentum includes a 327% year-over-year rise in transaction volume, with more than 80 million transactions expected through its tax engine, and growing software, manufacturing, distribution and wholesale customers as rules expand (including California’s move to tax prewritten SaaS from 2027). In September 2026 Numeral raised a $100 million Series C led by Insight Partners, with Salesforce Ventures, Geodesic, Benchmark, Mayfield, FCVC, Y Combinator and Uncork, following a $35 million Series B in September 2025 and bringing total funding to about $157 million to accelerate product and hiring.
