Norkom Technologies
Of financial crime and compliance software
About Norkom Technologies
In 1998, a team led by founder Paul Kerley started Norkom Technologies in Dublin. The company's mission was to provide software that helped financial institutions fight crime like fraud and money laundering. They built solutions that enabled organizations to monitor transactions, detect suspicious activity, and comply with global regulations. The company grew steadily, and in June 2006, it went public, listing on both the Irish and London Stock Exchanges. This move provided the capital for further expansion. Just over a year later, Norkom acquired the U.S.-based company Digital Harbor, strengthening its presence in the North American market. The pivotal moment in Norkom's story came in January 2011. The British defense and security giant BAE Systems announced a recommended cash offer to acquire the company for approximately €217 million. The deal was part of BAE's strategy to expand its cybersecurity and intelligence services. Norkom was then merged with BAE's subsidiary, Detica, creating a major global player in the financial crime and compliance software space.
