Newradio Technology is a fabless circuit design company established in 2016, specializing in silicon and system solutions for wireless communication and positioning. The company was co-founded by CEO ZhenQi Chen, who holds a Ph.D. in microelectronics from Auburn University and previously worked as a principal engineer at a leading U.S. chip company. Responding to a national call to bolster the domestic semiconductor industry, Chen returned to China to launch the startup.

The firm focuses on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and 5G/B5G technologies to produce high-performance integrated circuit products, including System-on-Chips (SoCs), antenna tuners, transceivers, and data converters. Its core product line, the "Ursa Major (UMAJ)" UWB SoC series, provides centimeter-level precision for ranging and positioning, as well as secure wireless communication. These chips are designed for a variety of applications, such as smart mobile devices, intelligent vehicles, mobile payments, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, smart homes, and AR/VR headsets. Newradio Technology operates with a completely self-developed and forward-design approach to ensure it maintains control over its core technology.

The company has achieved several milestones, including being the first to market with a fully self-designed UWB System-in-Package (SiP) and having the highest number of FiRa Consortium certified UWB chips globally. Financially, Newradio Technology has secured significant funding, including a Pre-A round of nearly CNY 100 million in late 2020 and a Series A round of CNY 200 million (approximately $31.4 million) in early 2022. The capital has been used to advance the productization of its UWB chips and explore new product lines. The company serves clients in the automotive, consumer electronics, and industrial IoT sectors.
