About Netbiscuits

Netbiscuits was a German-headquartered company founded in March 2000 that provided a cloud-based software platform for mobile web development and analytics. The firm specialized in enabling businesses to create, test, and analyze adaptive mobile web experiences that functioned across a vast array of devices.

The company's core offering was a platform that addressed the challenge of mobile device fragmentation. Its technology allowed developers to build a single mobile website or application that would automatically adapt its layout and features for thousands of different phones, from early web-enabled cell phones to modern smartphones. This was achieved through a comprehensive device library, which contained detailed parameters for over 6,000 device profiles, and a proprietary code, BiscuitsML. The platform catered to clients who needed to ensure their web content provided an optimal user experience on any device without developing separate native applications for each operating system.

In October 2013, the company launched Netbiscuits Analytics. This product provided businesses with detailed data on their mobile web traffic, including device-specific information like screen size, browser version, operating system, and even hardware capabilities such as battery status and bandwidth quality. This data enabled clients to make informed decisions and create customer profiles to deliver more relevant and optimized web content using standards like HTML5 and Responsive Web Design.

Netbiscuits secured significant venture capital, including a $27 million funding round in October 2012 from investors such as Stripes Group, T-Venture, and Creathor Ventures to fund marketing and R&D. However, the company was ultimately acquired by Acision in May 2014. Acision, a specialist in mobile messaging and communication infrastructure, was later acquired by Comverse in August 2015. This entity subsequently became part of Mavenir, a major telecommunications software company.
