About NetBird
NetBird (formerly Wiretrustee) is a Berlin-based open-source zero-trust networking company founded by Misha Bragin and Maycon Santos that replaces traditional SSL VPN gateways with a WireGuard-based overlay for secure remote access and network connectivity. The platform combines peer-to-peer mesh networking, identity-based access, and policy-driven orchestration so teams can connect devices, servers and cloud environments without opening ports or managing centralised VPN gateways and firewalls; organisations can self-host the control plane or use NetBird’s managed SaaS. Customers include managed service providers, enterprises and European public-sector organisations such as Sport Alliance, netgo, Signicat and VIEW Group. After a €4 million Seed co-led by InReach Ventures and Nauta Capital in 2024, NetBird raised a €8.5 million ($10 million) Series A in January 2026 led by Pace Capital, with Nauta Capital, InReach Ventures and Antler participating, to scale engineering and accelerate migrations from Sophos, SonicWall and Fortinet-style SSL VPN stacks as a European alternative to US vendors.
