Neocleus

Neocleus Inc. was an Israeli startup specializing in PC virtualization technology, founded in 2006 by CEO Ariel Gorfung and CTO Etay Bogner. The company developed an extensible client virtualization platform called NeoSphere, which was designed for enterprise IT departments. This platform integrated with existing PC management systems and utilized advanced visualization technology, focusing on what the company termed "Endpoint Virtualization."

The core of Neocleus's offering was its dedication to Type 1 hypervisors, which run directly on the physical machine's hardware, providing a high degree of isolation between virtual machines. This approach aimed to deliver enhanced security, management, and reliability for endpoint devices. The technology allowed for use cases such as running personal and corporate environments side-by-side on the same machine, endpoint lifecycle management, and supporting "bring your own PC" policies within enterprises. Neocleus's business model centered on providing this secure virtualization solution to enterprise clients.

The company successfully raised $22 million from investors, including notable venture capital firms Battery Ventures and Gemini Israel Funds. In September 2010, the assets of Neocleus were acquired by Intel Corporation. Following the acquisition, the company's team of 15-20 employees was integrated into Intel Israel's R&D center.
