Nemo TV
Subscription video on-demand and live streaming platform
About Nemo TV
Nemo TV was an over-the-top (OTT) video service that operated from 2012 to 2017, providing television, video-on-demand (VOD) for films and series, and live broadcasts. Founded in 2011 by Pavel K and Dmitry Mineev and based in Moscow, Russia, the service was available in 11 countries, including Russia and other CIS nations. The platform operated on a paid subscription model, offering users a 7-day free trial.
The service launched for users on March 1, 2014, via an application on Samsung Smart TVs, and later became available for LG Smart TVs, Android, and iOS devices. Nemo TV provided features such as Catch-up TV (Archiving), nPVR (recording), pause, and rewind. A single account supported up to five devices (Multiscreen), with simultaneous viewing on two devices (Multiroom). In April 2014, the company released its own multimedia set-top box, the Nemo Box HD. The platform was recognized as the best in the "Comprehensive Services" category at the "Big Digit 2015" national awards.
In September 2016, the founders sold 100% of the company to the Kazakhstani shareholders of the satellite television operator Caspio HD for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition was aimed at helping Caspio HD expand into Russian-speaking markets. However, in the fall of 2017, the service ceased operations by the decision of its new Kazakhstani owners. The company is now considered deadpooled.
