The company was founded in 2020 by Gustav Henter, Simon Alexanderson, and Willem Demmers. Henter and Alexanderson are recognized for developing the world's first deep generative model for motion synthesis in 2019, while Demmers has a background as a serial founder in creative technology.

Motorica's core offering is an AI platform that enables the creation of high-quality, production-ready 3D character animations at a significantly accelerated pace, reportedly up to 200 times faster than traditional motion capture (mocap) workflows. The technology is designed to automate repetitive animation tasks, such as locomotion and filler cycles, allowing creative teams to focus on performance and narrative. The platform, which includes the tool MoGen, utilizes a transformer-based AI model trained on a large proprietary library of motion capture data, which the company records at its own studio in Stockholm.
