Monarch Quantum is a privately held quantum photonics company that officially launched in January 2026. Based in San Diego, California, the firm was co-founded by Dr. Timothy Day, who serves as CEO and Board Chairman. Dr. Day is a photonics industry veteran with over 35 years of experience, having previously co-founded Daylight Solutions, which was acquired by Leonardo DRS in 2017.

The company's business model is focused on addressing a significant bottleneck in the quantum industry: the reliance on large, complex, and fragile laser systems built from hundreds of discrete components. Monarch Quantum designs and manufactures integrated, modular photonic subsystems, branded as Quantum Light Engines™, which consolidate these components into compact, factory-aligned modules. The Quantum Light Engines are laser-based hardware that prepares and controls quantum states. They perform critical functions such as state preparation and measurement (SPAM), cooling, trapping, manipulation, and coherent control of quantum states. The company operates a vertically integrated model, with in-house systems engineering, hybrid optical packaging, robotic assembly, and AI-driven manufacturing processes all located at its San Diego facility. This allows Monarch Quantum to manage the process from design to volume manufacturing under one roof. The company serves clients across the quantum technology ecosystem, with target applications in quantum computing, sensing, and communications. Its technology supports various quantum architectures, including trapped-ion, neutral-atom, and photonics-based platforms.
