About MojiaBio

MojiaBio is a product-focused biomanufacturing company that develops sustainable chemical manufacturing technologies. Founded in 2017 with headquarters in Shanghai, China, the company also has an operating headquarters in Singapore and R&D activities in China, Singapore, and the US. The company's co-founders include Ansen Chiew and its Chairman is Dr. Kevin Li. The company leverages synthetic biology, including genetic engineering, computational biology, and AI, to create green and economical biomanufacturing solutions. Its technology platforms, which include the AI-assisted OrthBio™ and Cn+Bio™, are designed to engineer enzymes and microbes for new chemical pathways, process optimization, and large-scale manufacturing. This approach aims to replace traditional, energy-intensive chemical processes with sustainable ones that utilize renewable carbon sources like methanol, glucose, and glycerol. MojiaBio's stated goal is to address the environmental pollution associated with conventional chemical synthesis while achieving cost advantages. MojiaBio has raised a total of $80 million in funding. A Series A round in August 2020, led by Asia Green Fund, raised over 100 million RMB. This was followed by a Series B round of $80 million in June 2022, with investors including Temasek, LYZZ Capital, Sento Investment, Bits x Bites, and Asia Green Fund. These funds are intended for the commercialization of its product portfolio, scaling up manufacturing, and expanding R&D capabilities. The company's product portfolio includes food ingredients, agricultural additives, and bio-based materials. Key products include the Viridimin™ brand of Vitamin B5 for animal feed and human food fortification, and the Aliphane™ series of bio-based materials. Aliphane™ is a polyurethane/polyurea system used to produce bio-based coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers for industries such as automotive, construction, textiles, and 3D printing. In February 2025, MojiaBio announced a partnership with Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) to develop a SGD 44.8 million Sustainable Biomanufacturing Technology Platform (SBTP) to produce high-value bio-based molecules like 1,3-propanediol (PDO).
