Mobile Labs Inc. operated as a specialized provider of in-house mobile device clouds, catering primarily to Global 2000 engineering teams in sectors such as mobile web, gaming, and application development. The company was founded in 2011 and established its first installation in 2012. A significant milestone in the company's trajectory occurred in November 2020, when it was acquired by Kobiton, a mobile experience platform. This acquisition aimed to merge Mobile Labs' secure on-premises device management with Kobiton's AI-driven test automation and cloud deployment capabilities.

The company was steered by CEO Don Addington, a technology industry veteran with a background that includes leadership roles at ORTEC, Seagull Software, and KnowledgeWare. His experience in application development tools and IT solutions was instrumental in growing Mobile Labs from a small startup to a company with over 40 employees.

The core of Mobile Labs' business was its patented GigaFox™ platform, a solution designed to address the complexities of mobile device sharing and management for development, debugging, and testing. GigaFox was offered as either an on-premises or a hosted private cloud, providing secure, 24/7 remote access to a centralized pool of real iOS and Android devices. This model eliminated the logistical challenges of physically distributing devices to geographically dispersed teams. The business generated revenue through subscriptions to its GigaFox platform, with tiered offerings like StarterKit, Red, and Silver to cater to teams of different sizes and needs. The platform featured a pre-configured Appium server for immediate test automation and supported integration with numerous third-party DevOps and testing tools, including Xcode and Android Studio.
