Mobikon, which now operates as Skayle, was established to provide a data-driven platform for the food and beverage industry. The company was founded in 2008 by Samir Khadepaun, a serial entrepreneur with a background in mobile technologies and SaaS-based product solutions. He was later joined by co-founders Salil Khamkar, Amit Divekar, and Apoorva Ruparel. Initially started as a services player, the company pivoted in 2010 to focus on building a product platform for the F&B industry after noticing significant demand from this segment. Mobikon's core offering evolved into a customer engagement and analytics platform, providing restaurants with a single dashboard for services like ordering, reservations, payments, and marketing.

The firm's business model is centered on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) subscription, generating revenue by charging restaurants for access to its integrated suite of tools. These tools help restaurants capture customer data across various touchpoints, build diner profiles, and automate marketing efforts to increase repeat visits and customer spending. The platform was designed to give restaurants ownership of their customer data, a key differentiator from food aggregators. Its client base includes a wide spectrum of the F&B sector, from quick-service restaurants to fine dining establishments, with notable customers like Pizza Express and Radisson group of Hotels.

Throughout its history, Mobikon achieved several milestones, including significant funding rounds and strategic acquisitions. The company raised approximately $25.1 million over multiple rounds, with investors including Jungle Ventures, Sistema Asia Fund, and Binny Bansal, a co-founder of Flipkart. Key acquisitions included the analytics startup Trii.be in 2015 to enhance its feedback management capabilities and MassBlurb in 2016, a marketing solutions provider, to integrate social media engagement tools. By 2017, the company had expanded its operations to six countries and was serving over 700 restaurant brands. Now as Skayle, it offers a product suite that includes Skayle Engage for customer management, Skayle Square as a restaurant marketplace, and Skayle Insights for AI-based data analysis. However, some sources now list the original Mobikon Technologies entity as deadpooled.
