About Miniplast

Miniplast is a Ghana-based company specializing in plastic product manufacturing and recycling. Founded in 1988 as a family-owned business, the company has developed expertise in plastic injection and blow molding. It serves a wide range of sectors including fast-moving consumer goods, agriculture, household & personal care, and mining.

The company manufactures a diverse portfolio of plastic products for commercial, industrial, and household use, such as buckets, containers, jerrycans, bottles, basins, and furniture. Miniplast utilizes both virgin resin materials and recycled plastic pellets in its production process. In 2020, Miniplast launched a dedicated plastic recycling business unit, processing locally sourced plastic waste into recycled pellets. These pellets are either used in its own manufacturing or sold to third-party companies. This initiative helps reduce production costs by substituting imported plastic resins with local materials.

In July 2023, the Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries (Norfund) invested USD 10.5 million to support the expansion of Miniplast's manufacturing and recycling operations. This investment was aimed at acquiring advanced manufacturing equipment to broaden product offerings and increase recycling capacity to 1,700 tonnes per month. The company operates its headquarters and production center in Accra, with waste collection and grinding hubs in Kumasi and Tamale. Miniplast exports over 50% of its sales to neighboring West African countries. The company is led by CEO Nadim Ghanem.
