Founded in 1974, Microgen began its journey developing critical software for the financial services industry. The company went public with a listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1983, establishing itself as a key player in the sector. The company's growth strategy involved a series of acquisitions to strengthen its position in the financial software market. A significant transformation began in 2014 when Aptitude Software was spun off as an independent subsidiary. This move signaled a strategic shift, allowing each entity to pursue more focused growth. A major turning point occurred in 2019 when the parent company, which had been renamed Aptitude Software Group, sold Microgen Financial Systems to Moscow Bidco, a company controlled by Silverfleet Capital, for £51 million in cash. This disposal was a key milestone in the group's strategy to create two independent businesses, allowing Aptitude to concentrate on its own high-growth software and providing Microgen with a new ownership structure to pursue its own goals. Shortly after, in November 2019, Microgen merged with Touchstone Wealth Management, a move designed to create a market leader in technology for the Trust and Corporate Services sector. This newly formed entity rebranded as TrustQuay in June 2020, combining their services to support over 450 clients across more than 30 jurisdictions.
