Mformation Technologies, Inc. operated as a provider of mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) security and device management software. The company was established in 1999 by Dr. Rakesh Kushwaha, who also held the position of Chief Technology Officer. Before founding Mformation, Dr. Kushwaha dedicated over ten years to developing operational support systems (OSS) for managing wireless, IP, and telecommunication services for major companies. His academic background includes undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate degrees from the University of Delhi and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

The firm catered primarily to mobile operators, service providers, and enterprises, offering solutions to manage the increasing complexity of connected devices. Its business model centered on licensing its software suites, which enabled clients to accelerate data revenues and lower support costs. By 2015, the company was managing over 500 million devices for more than 20 service provider customers globally.

Mformation's core offering was the MFORMATION SERVICE MANAGER suite, a mobile device management (MDM) platform. This software provided a range of functionalities, including over-the-air provisioning and configuration, firmware updates, application management, diagnostics, and security management for mobile devices. The platform was designed to automatically detect a device on a network, configure it, and manage its entire lifecycle. It supported various network technologies, including WiMAX, allowing for seamless management across different networks. A significant legal event in the company's history was a patent infringement lawsuit filed against Research In Motion (RIM) in 2008, which, after an initial victory for Mformation, was ultimately overturned.

On September 17, 2015, Alcatel-Lucent announced its acquisition of Mformation for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition was a strategic move by Alcatel-Lucent to bolster its Customer Experience Management (CEM) and IoT security capabilities. Mformation was subsequently incorporated into Alcatel-Lucent's IP Platforms unit, and its technology was integrated with Alcatel-Lucent's Motive device management solution.
