MediaMind Technologies
DG was an advertising hub for creating, managing, distributing and optimizing multiscreen campaigns across broadcast and digital channels
About MediaMind Technologies
Originally founded as Eyeblaster in 1999 by Gal Trifon and Ofer Zadikario, the company that evolved into Sizmek by Amazon has a complex history of acquisitions and rebranding within the ad tech industry. Initially a provider of digital advertising campaign management solutions, it allowed agencies and advertisers to manage campaigns across various digital channels. The company went public in August 2010 after changing its name to MediaMind Technologies.

In 2011, less than a year after its IPO, MediaMind was acquired by DG FastChannel Inc. for approximately $517 million. Following the acquisition, the founders eventually departed. DG integrated several ad tech companies, including MediaMind, EyeWonder, and Unicast, into its online division. In 2013, DG spun off its online ad tech operations, which were then rebranded as Sizmek, Inc. Over the next few years, Sizmek made its own acquisitions to build a comprehensive buy-side ad tech stack, including mobile DSP StrikeAd and data company Rocket Fuel.
Facing challenges in a competitive market, Sizmek filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2019. Subsequently, Amazon acquired key assets from the bankrupt company in May 2019, specifically the Sizmek Ad Server and its Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) technology. This move was seen as a strategic step for Amazon to bolster its own advertising ecosystem and compete more directly with Google. In March 2023, the Sizmek Ad Suite was officially renamed Amazon Ad Server, completing its integration.
Today, as Sizmek by Amazon (now Amazon Ad Server), the business provides a centralized platform for advertisers and agencies to create, distribute, measure, and optimize advertising campaigns across multiple channels. The core services include ad serving, which places ads on websites, and Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO), which uses data to personalize ads for different audiences. This technology enables clients to manage the entire lifecycle of their digital campaigns, from creative authoring to detailed analytics. The platform operates globally, serving a wide range of advertisers who use the tools to improve campaign efficiency and gain holistic, cross-channel insights. The business model is centered on providing these technology solutions to advertisers and agencies, helping them to optimize their marketing budgets and deepen customer relationships.
