Masteos operates as a property technology company in the real estate investment sector, offering a comprehensive digital platform for individuals looking to invest in rental properties. Founded in 2019 by Thierry Vignal and Maxime Hanquier, the Paris-based firm aimed to streamline the entire rental investment process. Vignal, a graduate of HEC Paris with a background in tax and real estate law, previously worked as a trader before co-founding Masteos. His experience in finance and real estate, including authoring books on rental investment, shaped the company's mission. The founders identified a need to simplify property investment, creating a service that manages everything from property sourcing and acquisition to renovation, furnishing, and rental management.

The company's business model is centered on providing an end-to-end, turnkey solution for real estate investors. Clients can use the Masteos mobile application to discover investment opportunities, conduct 3D property tours, monitor renovation progress, and manage tenancy documentation. This digital-first approach caters to individuals who want to invest remotely and efficiently. The company generates revenue by managing all facets of the investment lifecycle for its clients, who range from corporate executives to small business owners. After a period of rapid growth and significant fundraising, including a Series A round that valued the company at €150 million, Masteos faced financial difficulties due to a downturn in the real estate market. In January 2024, the company was placed in judicial recovery.

A significant milestone occurred in March 2024 when Masteos was acquired by Novaxia, a real estate company focused on sustainable urban development, for one million euros. Now operating as "Masteos by Novaxia," the firm continues under the leadership of CEO Thomas Maudet. The acquisition has enabled Masteos to expand its distribution channels to include Wealth Management Advisors and Private Banks. A key strategic partnership was also formed with EDF to focus on energy-efficient property renovations, addressing new regulations that prohibit renting out less efficient properties. This collaboration aims to offer a standardized solution for energy renovation, a critical component of the current rental market. With the backing of Novaxia, the new entity aims for profitability by 2026, with a goal of processing 1,000 transactions annually within three years.
