About Marker
Marker (marker.page) is a London AI writing company building a reimagined word processor that writes with authors rather than for them—supporting ideation, drafting, revision and collaboration so blogs, Substacks, memos and long-form work stay craft-led instead of AI-slop automation. Co-founded by Jon Steinback (ex-DeepMind brand and creative lead) and Ryan Bowman (platforms for writers inside literary and talent agencies), it emerged from stealth targeting professional and creative writers who want AI that preserves authorial control. In July 2026 Marker raised a $13 million seed led by Index Ventures with LocalGlobe and angels including Writely/Google Docs co-founder Steve Newman, Slack co-founder Cal Henderson and Hugging Face’s Thomas Wolf.
