About MapleMark Bank
What does it take to build a modern bank for a sophisticated clientele? For banking veterans and brothers Tony and Eric Davis, the answer was to acquire and innovate. The story begins not with a startup, but with a strategic acquisition. In October 2017, their holding company, Maple Financial Holdings, Inc., acquired First National Bank of Edgewood, a family-owned Texas bank with roots stretching back to 1909. By early 2018, the bank was converted to a Texas state-chartered bank and rebranded as MapleMark Bank. With Tony Davis as Chairman and CEO and Eric Davis as President, the new entity was launched with a clear mission: to serve high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and middle-market companies with the kind of tailored financial solutions often reserved for larger institutions. This wasn't a typical bank launch. In May 2018, MapleMark completed an initial capitalization of $92 million, one of the largest for a new bank in U.S. history, backed primarily by prominent Texas and Oklahoma families. A significant chapter unfolded in January 2022, when MapleMark announced a "merger of equals" with Oakwood Bancshares, the parent company of Oakwood Bank. The deal combined two complementary Dallas-based banking platforms, creating an institution with approximately $2 billion in assets. The combined bank now operates under the Oakwood Bank name, while the holding company remains Maple Financial Holdings, Inc. This strategic merger allowed the bank to enhance its scale and increase its market share in the competitive Texas banking landscape.
