The company was founded in late 2023 by former Baidu executives Eric Jing (CEO) and Kay Zhu (CTO). Mainfunc's core product is the Genspark AI Workspace, an all-in-one platform intended to put work on autopilot for knowledge workers. The platform operates on three pillars: collecting information from various sources like web searches, emails, and meetings; processing information using a proprietary 'Super Agent'; and generating finished outputs like presentations, spreadsheets, and documents. This contrasts with traditional AI chatbots by aiming to deliver completed work rather than just assistance. The business model includes a free tier with limited credits and paid subscription plans (Plus and Enterprise) that offer more advanced capabilities, increased storage, and priority access to all AI agents.

The technology behind Genspark is a 'Mixture-of-Agents' (MoA) system, which orchestrates over 30 AI models from partners like OpenAI and Anthropic. This architecture routes tasks to the most suitable model for the specific job, whether it be research, content creation, or data analysis. The Super Agent can utilize over 80 specialized tools for tasks like code execution and making calls. The workspace includes features like Genspark AI Inbox for email automation, Genspark Teams for real-time collaboration, and Genspark AI Sheets 2.0 for data analysis using natural language prompts.
