Luminate Security, established in 2017 by co-founders Ofer Smadari, Leonid Belkind, and Eldad Livni, emerged as a specialized player in the cybersecurity sector, focusing on securing corporate applications and services. Luminate's business model targeted enterprises looking to move away from traditional VPNs, offering a more granular and secure method for managing application access for a geographically dispersed user base. The platform aimed to provide secure, direct access to any application, hosted anywhere, from any device. In a significant milestone for the startup, Luminate Security was acquired by Symantec in February 2019. This acquisition integrated Luminate's ZTNA technology into Symantec's broader Integrated Cyber Defense Platform, demonstrating the strategic value of its access management solution in the evolving cybersecurity landscape.
