About LQDX
Operating at the intersection of materials science and semiconductor technology, LQDX is a Silicon Valley-based firm focused on developing advanced materials for the high-performance computing and artificial intelligence sectors. The company originated as Averatek Corp., founded in collaboration with the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), a well-known research and development institution.
In April 2024, Averatek rebranded to LQDX to concentrate on the adoption of its AI-enabling chemistries. This strategic shift included a new executive team, naming Simon McElrea as CEO, Rozalia Beica as Chief Commercial Officer, and Scott Meikle as Executive Chairman. McElrea has a background in building and exiting deep-tech companies, including a nanomaterials provider adopted by Apple and a wireless charging firm used by Tesla. Meikle previously held senior roles at Lam Research and was president of Inotera Memories, which is now part of Micron. This relaunch was supported by a $10 million funding round from a combination of equity and government sources, adding to a total of $20M raised.
LQDX's business model centers on licensing its advanced chemical and process technologies. Its core offering is the LMIx®, or Liquid Metal Ink®, a metallization chemistry suite. This technology is designed to produce circuits with densities up to 250 times greater than conventional printed circuit boards (PCBs). It serves as a cost-effective alternative to expensive Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) processes used in wafer processing, functioning as a "PVD-in-a-Bottle™" that can be integrated into existing manufacturing infrastructures. The company's clients are in the semiconductor packaging and Ultra High-Density Interconnect (UHDI) markets. LQDX offers flexible partnership models, allowing customers to purchase the LMIx® ink directly, source pre-coated materials, or license a full turnkey process and chemistry solution.
